What Is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

Entertaiment can refer to a wide range of activities for pleasure and relaxation, such as watching movies or television; listening to music or attending concerts; reading books or magazines; playing sports and games; dancing; visiting visual art galleries; and attending live theater or comedy shows. Some forms of entertainment have a serious purpose, such as religious festivals and political satire.

The word entertainment is derived from the medieval Latin intertenere, formed from the prefix inter meaning “inside,” and the suffix tenere meaning to hold or keep inside. It was originally used to describe a play that held a secret within the performance.
