What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment

Entertaiment is the general term for a show that is presented for people’s enjoyment. It can be done on a small scale such as an evening at the movies for two or on a large scale such as a theatrical production, festival, or religious event. It also can take many forms such as food, music, or games.

The definition of entertainment evolves as technology changes and new media are created. It has been defined by Bates and Ferri as an activity that is understood objectively, communicates between text and audience, provides external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist and occurs in a passive form.

A suffix of French origin forming nouns, representing Latin -mentum (as in amazement, betterment, merriment). It was commonly used with verb stems ending in -er or -ere through the 16c.
